Read Psalm 49 verses 1-12

How does the Psalmist get your attention in vss. 1-4? In what do some people place their trust (vss. 6, 11)? What reality do they refuse to see? How is that world view expressed today? Do you believe that the “best things in life are free”? What are some things that money can’t buy? How would you express vs. 12 in your own words?  Now look back to vs. 5 for some HOPE!

I guess it would help if I read a little more closely. I read all of Psalm 46 and then asked "Where did all of these questions come from?"

Then I read the Psalm I was supposed to read. The Psalmist says that there is nothing that I need to fear in these days when the ways of wickedness surround me. Nothing that man can do, say, accumulate or accomplish on his own in this life can redeem a living thing. People that strive to do so are only fooling themselves and yet they still do so. Redemption belongs alone to God
