Read Hebrews 11:29-12:2
Match these references from vv. 29-32 with the appropriate Bible reference:
a) Red Sea 1)Judges 6:4-6
b) Jericho 2) Exodus 14:21-22
c) Rahab 3) 2 Samuel 3:1
d) Gideon 4) Judges 6:12-13
e) Barak 5) Joshua 6:17
f) Samson 6) Judges 16:13
g) Jephthah 7) Joshua 6:2-5
h) David 8) Judges 11:1-3
In v. 31, Rahab was not an Israelite; why do you think she is mentioned here? In v. 33, “mouths of lions” may refer to an incident; can you guess what it may be? But “lions” could also be symbolic. What do you think it might symbolize? What do you think is the point of mentioning “strength out of weakness” (v. 34)? What enabled God’s people to accomplish all these wonderful things? When the writer used the phrase “a cloud of witnesses” (v. 12:1) to what did he refer? What does that phrase mean to you?
